The Garden is Dying

I am not sure what happened to this habanero plant. It was good one day and dead the next. I think it got root rot.

The powdery mildew killed the cantaloupe plant right away.

Powdery mildew has killed most of the garden now, including the tomatoes and peppers. Lessons learned about the type of support system used for the tomatoes. This is good to keep the tomatoes from falling forward or backward but they will fall downward or sideways. I also had five plants in this 5 foot rectangle box which made it too crowded. I suspect overcrowding helped to kill them.

August Garden Bed

The garden is not doing so good. The squash and zucchini plants started off with powdery mildew. I ordered every product I could fine and tried every remedy online and nothing would get rid of it. It then quickly spread to the cucumbers, green beans, watermelon, and cantaloupe.

Damn powdery mildew. The watermelon and cantaloupe did not even get to full size before the mildew got them.

July Garden Bed

I am not sure how these yellow and red bell peppers work. They all start out green and then change color? They don't look like the store ones.

The vertical cantaloupe and watermelon are fruiting. I will offload the melons.

Tomatoes are doing good. So many that I ordered a canning kit so that I start canning.

Harvest Continued

I pulled my first red cabbage and more red and white onions.
I had to pull several of the outer leaves off and wash it really good to get rid of the aphids.

Here is what I harvested today. Green Bell Peppers, Green Beans, Yellow Squash, Japanese Eggplant, strawberries, raspberries, jalapenos, serranos and banana peppers. Not bad for a family of two.

The yellow squash is doing good. It is producing a lot.

The watermelon and cantaloupe vertical growth experiment is underway.

The red cabbage heads are getting fuller but I am still fighting the aphids.

The cucumbers, snap peas, cherry tomatoes, eggplants and pepper plants are growing big with foliage.

Red Onion Harvest

The red onions don't seem to be growing any bigger and the green stems are starting to yellow so I harvested some. I think it is getting too hot for onions.
